February Tea Chat

This month’s tea, homemade Starbucks Medicine Ball Tea. You may know it as Honey Citrus Mint Tea. Simple to make, hot water, steamed lemonade, Teavana’s Jade Citrus Mint Green Tea and Peach Tranquility Herbal Tea, honey, and a shot of peppermint syrup. I leave out the peppermint syrup unless I really need it.

(Taking a sip of tea) Let’s jump into it.

February has been a hard month for be these past ten years. Yes a decade of not loving February. It is the month of love, the shortest month of the whole year, and a month of waiting for spring to arrive, at least in the northern hemisphere. It is the month I wish I could lay low, and just get through it without anything going wrong. Normally I just go offline right around the time of February, but this year I didn’t. Instead I plowed through looking forwards to what was coming ahead in the still new year.

Which brings me to what happened this month…..

The beginning of the month I got out for a girls night at a Broadway musical. A couple of friends and I went to see Beauty and the Beast the Broadway Musical at the 5th Ave Theater. It has felt like a lifetime since I have been out on a Friday night in downtown Seattle. Things have changed since the last time I have been in Seattle, and even under all the shiny newness, there still is an ugly reality. I still wish for the day when Seattle will be the emerald jewel it once was. But for one night, it was magical for this girl who missed those days.

There has been a lot of blog posts and YouTube videos of people starting to prepare for spring and summer gardening. The other day I watched Lydia Elise Millen and Fashion Mumblr planning out their gardens for the coming year. I too have been busy behind the scenes putting the plans for the garden in motion. Already I have started planting indoors tomato seeds, and as of this writing, there are a few starting to pop up out of the soil. The local gardening store has seed packs out already along with seed starting kits. The other day I picked up a few packets of seeds before they are all out. Up here in Washington the seeds and starter plants are almost gone by mid April and the price of seeds has gone up again this year.

I will admit, I haven’t been watching any of the major sporting events happening this month. I don’t know why all of a sudden I no longer watch the games from the Seattle Seahawks anymore, or even the winter Olympics. I would just Google the score or the medal count and be done with it. Which means, Norway just kicked everyone’s butt this winter Olympics. I can believe it, and great for them! Also this month in the sports calendar of the USA, is the Superbowl. I did have it on in the background waiting for the half time show which lets be honest, was better than the shows in last few years. I kept asking myself why the heck have we not put a country artist as a half time show performer? If we can go back to old school, why not do country? Just putting that idea out there…..again.

With Lent season upon us now for all of us Christians who celebrate. I have been thinking most of the month what it is I am doing for Lent. I started out with a huge laundry list of things to “sacrifice” or give up and a list of things I want to start to do. I have since narrowed it down to a few things and will being following them for forty days.

2/27/22

I finished this post right before the world went to hell in the last week of February. In the early hours of February 24th PST, I received one of the worst text messages one could ever be awoken to of a friend fearing for their life. I am deeply sadden by what happened to the Ukrainian people as Russia invaded. I stand and pray for the people of Ukraine. War is something no one ever wants to go through, and no one, people or country should have to be violated like this, ever.
